Charlie Dates serves as the senior pastor at Progressive Baptist Church and teaches at Moody Bible Institute as an adjunct professor. He earned an MDiv and PhD in Historical Theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where his research focused on the burden of black preaching in late 20th-century Chicago. Charlie has contributed to Letters to a Birmingham Jail: A Response to the Words and Dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (Moody Publishers), is a contributing editor for Preaching Magazine, and serves on the advisory board for the Chicago Fire Department. Charlie and his wife, Kirstie, have two children.
